STAY READY FOR RODEO SEASON WITH THESE FOOT CARE SUGGESTIONS
SPRING BREAK AND RODEO SEASON ARE UPON US, WHICH MEANS MANY OF US WILL BE SPENDING MORE TIME OUTDOORS. WHETHER YOU’RE DANCING AT A MUSIC FESTIVAL OR WALKING AROUND THE RODEO GROUNDS, CHECK OUT THE FOOT CARE TIPS BELOW!
Spring break and rodeo season are upon us, which means many of us will be spending more time outdoors. Whether you’re dancing at a music festival or walking around the rodeo grounds, it’s important to take care of your feet to prevent pain and injuries. Here are some foot care tips to keep in mind:
- No walking barefoot
One easy tip is to avoid walking barefoot on hard surfaces like concrete or pavement, as this can cause strain on your feet and lead to pain or even plantar fasciitis. There is tons of debris on the grounds, and walking barefoot can cause injuries. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes that support your feet!
- Hydration & Elevation
Another essential foot care tip is staying hydrated. Proper hydration can help prevent swelling in your feet and ankles during long periods of standing or activity. Whether you’re at the rodeo or SXSW, hydration is key to prevent muscle cramps and reduce leg swelling. Yet, if your feet and ankles swell during your break, we have a simple tip for you! Raising your legs above heart level for 10-15 minutes each day can help reduce swelling in the lower extremities.
- Stretching
It’s also important to exercise your feet by stretching regularly, as this helps improve circulation and flexibility. Simple stretches like pointing and flexing your toes or rolling a tennis ball under your feet can make a big difference. If you’re standing or walking for long periods of time, make sure to take breaks every hour or so. This will give your feet a chance to rest and prevent fatigue.
- Wear supportive shoes
As tempting as it may be to wear cute sandals or cowboy boots, wearing shoes with proper support, such as good arch support and padded sole, is key to preventing foot pain and injuries.
