It’s a great question, and one we believe every patient should understand before considering any treatment.
What Is a Biologic Injection?
A biologic injection uses naturally derived tissue products to support the body’s normal healing response and tissue environment.
Unlike steroid injections, which are designed to suppress inflammation, biologic products are intended to complement the body’s natural processes. Depending on the diagnosis and the individual patient, they may be considered as one component of a comprehensive treatment plan.

So, What Is DPMx?
DPMx is a human birth tissue umbilical cord allograft distributed by AIMx Podiatry and designed specifically for foot and ankle applications.
The product is derived from donated human umbilical cord tissue and contains naturally occurring extracellular matrix components, hyaluronic acid, elastin, structural proteins, cytokines, growth factors, and other bioactive molecules that are naturally present within the tissue.
One of the primary components of this tissue is something called Wharton’s jelly.
What Is Wharton’s Jelly?
During pregnancy, the umbilical cord carries blood between the developing baby and the placenta.
Surrounding the blood vessels is a specialized tissue called Wharton’s jelly.
Its purpose is to cushion and protect those blood vessels throughout development.
